While looking at this piece I could see how the scales on the snake are created using the crosshatching technique. Also, the patterns on the snake have diamonds and triangles with different colors. In my piece I decided to do a zoomed in part of the snake where two diamonds connect.

By studying the details on the snake I could apply that to my own work. I noticed the curves and bumps on the snakes body which I used in my study. Also the scales are different colors, not just one. Plus, each scale has shading in it which I applied to my scales for my final piece.

Reflection:

One thing that went well was the colors. I think the different colors I used created a beautiful design that a snake would have. Another thing was the usage of lines. At the start of drawing out this piece I was overwhelmed with the amount of scales. By using the crosshatching technique I was able to create all the scales in a shorter amount of time. Also the shading on the scales is something I am proud of because it gives the whole piece more depth. One thing that I could improve on if the blending of some of the colors. Using the oil pastels were a challenge and if I could blend the pink and blue colors together better the piece would look even better.
